I work with sound. My work is to listen. Listen to what the sound tells me. Listen to understand what the sound needs to tell. Listen to the silence. Listen to a silent picture to turn it into a sounding image. Listen to you to make your vision sound. Patrick Leuchter — Sound Engineer

Sennheiser - Audiophile Range Year of Production: 2017

The Audiophile Range by Sennheiser comprises the company's state-of-the-art, high definition audio products. Sennheiser decided to listen to their ›inner voice‹ and the resulting advertising campaign can be best described with its concluding question: »Do you hear me?«

In 2018, after the successful launch, I received the Art Directors Club (ADC) Award for best ›Music / Sound - Sounddesign‹ with my work on this production.

Here - In This Moment Year of Production: 2009

Here – In This Moment is a music video featuring binaural stereo sound. Both the sound and the picture take on first-person perspective, thus creating a real feeling of "being there". The camera travels through four different locations in long pan shots, merging invisibly into the next one. The soundtrack acts just accordingly taking the listener on an auditory walk through four acoustical spaces with sound sources impinging from all directions.

Here – In This Moment has been brought to life as the result of tremendous effort and dedicated teamwork. Sit back and immerse yourself.

Done and Gone Year of Production: 2013

Done and Gone is a musical journey in three movements. The first segment ('Awakening') induces a calm, almost meditative mood carried by a few piano notes, a resonant singing bowl and disparate sound fragments reverberating somewhere from a distance. The next segment ('Departure') increases rapidly in speed and unfolds a pulsating ostinato, slowly building up sonic density as more and more elements are added. It cumulates in a short interlude that rises in pitch until all elements dissolve in a single note. The last movement ('Redemption') features an airy motif played by acoustic guitar and piano in unison. Distant sound fragments reminiscent of the first movement.

Done and Gone reflects Patrick's compositional approach of eclectic choice and elaborate assembly.

Reise zum Fluss Year of Production: 2011

Reise zum Fluss is about failure, the missing of one's aims, shattered dreams of social climbing and the question of what remains at the end. Based on the original story from Clemens Meyer, it portrays the friendship between two prisoners. As one of them is let out on parole, he is asked to pass along his friend's last savings to his daughter – money from the big times, when he was supposed to be in the Olympics. Without following a classical narrative style, the film takes the audience on a trip to the margins of society and attends the day-released prisoner into a world he seems to be abandoned from.

Patrick has worked in the post-production stage of Reise zum Fluss as sound designer, -editor, re-recording mixer and composer.

MoveDove Year of Production: 2013

MoveDove is a Cologne-based band playing sacred musical repertoire in a contemporary vesture. Having played numerous concerts throughout Germany, MoveDove now debut on their first studio album. Recordings took place in July 2013 at hidden track studio, St. Engelbert's Church, the famous Cologne Cathedral and HfMT Köln. Reassembling the best of two worlds - the studio environment and the church space - Luis Reichard and Lorenz Rosenthal take you on a contemplative journey through our centuries-old musical history. The album is deliberately handcrafted, made from real recordings, no artificial drum-replacement or doubling have been used.

More info, concert dates, orders and feedback on the official MoveDove Website.

Services

Recording || In the studio or outside in the nature, I’m working like a photographer: Taking snapshots of irretrievable moments. The goal is to capture your sound in all its beauty and detail before it fades away.

Mixing || ... is like cooking. Choosing the right ingredients and balance them carefully to create a perfect blend. And as with a good meal, a good mix requires two things: Taste and experience. Music, radio, audio drama, TV or film—I’ll spice up your production.

Sound Design || Sound can set the mood and tell the story between the lines—if implemented well. As a Sound Designer I need to determine what kind of sound your individual project requires. Once accomplished, I will use any tool and any approach to facilitate that sound.

Music Production || It’s people that make music, not technology. My musical intuition, knowledge and experience serve to intensify your message and bring your production to life.

Composition || Music expresses the inexpressible. If my music expresses something that you’re looking for, I’ll happily compose original music for you.

Full Circle || Together with my network of professional partners, we are able to offer you full service. Whether it is film, multimedia, photography, illustration or design—the overall result is all that matters.

Studio || Professional quality recording and mixing requires both space and atmosphere. Either is provided by my colleague and fellow Heiko Lohmann and me at Hidden Track Studio, based in Köln Höhenhaus.
